Hart InterCivic Sues Avante Over Voting Machines

Law360 (November 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Texas-based Hart InterCivic Inc., one of the country's leading providers of electronic voting machines, has sued Avante International Technology Inc. for infringing a patent for electronic voting systems.

The complaint, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleges that Avante's Optical Vote-Trakker System infringes U.S. Patent Number 6,688,517, titled "Electronic Voting System." The patent was issued in 2004 and was subsequently assigned to Hart.
