RI Says Daily Fantasy Sports Legal, Should Be Regulated

Law360, Washington (February 4, 2016, 8:41 PM EST) -- Rhode Island's attorney general said Thursday he believes daily fantasy sports can operate legally under the state's laws, saying a review by his office found that the game involved more skill than luck, but he urged state lawmakers to regulate the industry to address a number of potential risks.

In an announcement welcomed by daily fantasy giants FanDuel Inc. and Draft Kings Inc., which are under harsh scrutiny in several states, Rhode Island Attorney Peter F. Kilmartin said his office's investigation found that sports knowledge and strategy outweigh chance in determining a player's success.
