N.J. High Court Mulls Vioxx Class Status; $30B At Stake

Law360, New York (July 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a decision that dramatically raises the stakes for Merck & Co., New Jersey’s State Supreme Court has agreed to hear the drug maker’s appeal of the class certification of a Vioxx lawsuit brought by a union and other third-party payors.

The latest development in Merck’s extensive and drawn-out litigation over the pain killer was first reported Monday by the Wall Street Journal’s online edition.
