Simon & Schuster Hit With Suit Over E-Book Royalties

Law360, Los Angeles (May 19, 2016, 6:17 PM EDT) -- Simon & Schuster was slapped with a putative class action in New York state court on Thursday that accuses the book publishing giant of breach of contract for paying authors inadequate royalties on electronic versions of their works.

Sheldon Blau, a medical doctor and author of the book "How to Get Out of the Hospital Alive," asserts that he signed a publishing agreement with Simon & Schuster Inc. that included a provision stating that he would receive royalty payments for licensing his book at a certain rate that was greater than sales royalties.
