New Judge Says Scheindlin Erred In Axing TiVo Ad Patent Suit

Law360, New York (June 28, 2016, 11:36 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge has said she'll reconsider a previous decision by the court invalidating three TiVo Research and Analytics Inc. patents under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice standard and reinstated TiVo's state law claims, saying U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, who originally oversaw the case, erred.

U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest on Friday said she believes "it is in the interests of justice to reconsider" the decision issued in February by Judge Scheindlin, who has since retired, dismissing TiVo's patent claims against TNS Media Research LLC because Judge Scheindlin "may have misapprehended the patents."
