House Republicans Seek Details On Lifeline Fraud Probe

Law360, Washington (July 18, 2016, 6:52 PM EDT) -- The chairmen of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and its Communications and Technology Subcommittee asked Republican Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai on Friday for a briefing on his investigation into fraud and abuse in the low-income Lifeline program.

Reps Fred Upton, R-Mich., and Greg Walden, R-Ore., asked Pai to make his staff available to brief committee staff next week on a probe sparked by information uncovered during an FCC investigation of Total Call Mobile Inc. That company faces a potential $51 million fine for alleged abuse.
