High Court Asks DOJ For Input In DVR Copyright Case

Law360, New York (January 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to weigh in on a high-stakes copyright dispute between Cablevision System Corp. and a group of broadcasting companies and film studios.

The high court is still considering whether to take up the case, which centers on the question of whether a new Cablevision television-recording technology would infringe the copyrights held by the broadcasting companies and film studios.
