Clinics Wants Quinn Emanuel Sanctioned In FCA Fight

Law360, Los Angeles (September 9, 2016, 5:00 PM EDT) -- A chain of Miami-area medical clinics facing allegations of running a Medicare overbilling scheme with insurer Humana Inc. asked a Florida federal judge Thursday to sanction a whistleblower and her counsel, including attorneys at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, for allegedly spoiling a deposition.

Plaza Medical Centers Corp. filed a motion for sanctions accusing attorneys for relator Dr. Olivia Graves of ending a deposition after refusing to allow a physician's assistant to review materials tied to Graves' claims that the hospital inflated diagnoses of diabetes on claims submitted to Humana-managed Medicare Advantage plans.
