MobileMedia Seeks $18M In Damages At Apple IPhone IP Trial

Law360, Wilmington (September 12, 2016, 9:11 PM EDT) -- Nonpracticing entity MobileMedia Ideas LLC told a federal jury Monday that it is seeking nearly $18 million in damages from Apple Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent that once belonged to Sony Corp. with its popular iPhone, at the start of a two-week trial in Delaware.

During opening arguments, MobileMedia attorney Kimberly A. Mottley of Proskauer Rose LLP told the eight-person jury that her client is seeking about $17.9 million in damages from Apple on accusations it infringed on a patent related to how the iPhone silences incoming calls a user does not answer.
