Fla. Judge Won't Sanction Quinn Emanuel In FCA Suit

Law360, New York (September 21, 2016, 2:31 PM EDT) -- A Florida magistrate judge on Tuesday refused to sanction a whistleblower's counsel, including Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, for purportedly interfering with a deposition in her False Claims Act suit accusing a Miami-area medical clinic of running a Medicare overbilling scheme with Humana Inc.

After a Tuesday hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge John J. O'Sullivan denied in chambers Plaza Medical Center Corp.'s early September call for sanctions against counsel for one of its former doctors, Olivia Graves, according to a docket entry.

Reasoning for the order is not yet available and counsel for Plaza could not immediately be reached for comment...
