Judge Preliminarily Approves $1.29M HMSHost OT Deal

By Joyce Hanson (November 1, 2016, 8:44 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday granted preliminary approval to a $1.29 million settlement for a previously decertified collective action filed by assistant managers at various food and beverage chains against operator HMSHost Corp. over unpaid overtime wages.

U.S. District Judge I. Leo Glasser approved the joint motion for the proposed settlement's terms and ordered distribution of the proceeds among the Federal Labor Standards Act plaintiffs who agree to join in the settlement, including an award of attorneys' fees and expenses and payment of the claims administrator's costs and expenses.
