Telecom, Consumer Groups Back Cox On DMCA Safe Harbor

Law360, New York (November 15, 2016, 7:41 PM EST) -- Cox Communications Inc. is getting high-profile support from telecom industry groups and consumer rights watchdogs in its bid to overturn a ruling that revoked the company's immunity under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

The broadband giant — appealing to the Fourth Circuit to reverse a ruling Cox has called "unprecedented" — received supporting amicus briefs Monday from industry allies like the U.S. Telecom Association, as well as rights advocates like Public Knowledge and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
