TiVo Damages Lost Value Claim Tossed In Kantar IP Row

Law360, Los Angeles (January 18, 2017, 8:48 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday ruled that said that TiVo Research and Analytics Inc. hadn't proved it is entitled to damages between $60 million and $196 million as a result of Kantar Media Audiences' alleging devaluing of its business in a long-running patent infringement row. 

The 5-year-plus IP battle over an advertising platform matching TV shows to household purchasing behaviors started when TNS Media Research LLC, which goes by Kantar Media Audiences, initially sought a declaration of noninfringement. Then TiVo, which acquired TiVo Research and Analytics in 2012, lobbed counterclaims accusing TNS of attempting to copy its platform....
