Ex-Tesla Worker Cops To Misdemeanor In Email Hacking Suit
Law360, New York (January 20, 2017, 3:11 PM EST) -- A former Tesla Motors Inc. mechanical engineer on Thursday pled guilty in California federal court to a misdemeanor charge after allegedly hacking his manager’s email and subsequently posting a confidential customer complaint and false, disparaging remarks about the electric car company.
Nima Kalbasi, a 28-year-old Canadian citizen, did not admit to the other two felony charges from a 2015 indictment alleging he secretly had obtained the username and password for his former manager’s email and downloaded about 300 emails containing confidential information, such as employee evaluations and customer complaints.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 6, and Kalbasi faces up to one...
