Texas Jury Finds Surgeon Guilty Of Maiming Elderly Patient

Law360, New York (February 15, 2017, 2:24 PM EST) -- A Texas jury on Tuesday found a neurosurgeon guilty of maiming an elderly woman during surgery, a charge that could land him in prison for life, according to media reports.

Christopher Duntsch, 45, of Plano, Texas, was found guilty of first degree injury to an elderly person — a felony charge — after the jury deliberated for four hours, the Dallas News reported. Because of the victim's age, Duntsch's sentence could be between 5 and 99 years, or life in prison. He could also receive probation, the Associated Press said.
