High Court Urged To Review Nixing Of Streaming IP Patents

By Fola Akinnibi (March 6, 2017, 3:44 PM EST) -- Affinity Labs has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review a Federal Circuit decision to stand by a ruling that said two streaming media patents asserted against Amazon, DirecTV and major sports leagues are invalid for claiming only abstract ideas, arguing the decision flouts U.S. patent law.

In a petition for certiorari filed Feb. 27, innovation consulting firm Affinity Labs of Texas LLC claimed that the Federal Circuit's decision to affirm a lower court's ruling in the patent case relied on an overbroad application of patent law.
