Drivers In Gearshift MDL Chastise Fiat For Deflecting Blame

By Dani Kass (March 9, 2017, 5:25 PM EST) -- Drivers accusing Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in multidistrict litigation of manufacturing vehicles with faulty electronic gearshift systems that could cause the vehicles to roll on Wednesday pushed back against the company's arguments that drivers should have known better, saying customers couldn't have known about the defect.

FCA's Feb. 15 motion to dismiss had blamed customers for not asking to get safety features installed in their vehicles or properly putting their cars in park. But the drivers say FCA advertised their cars as safe even knowing about the gearshift issue, causing injuries and the death of actor Anton Yelchin.
