Justices Won't Hear Appeal Of Alice Wins On Streaming IP

By Kelcee Griffis (April 17, 2017, 1:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear Affinity Labs' appeal of a pair of Federal Circuit decisions that held two streaming media patents asserted against Amazon, DirecTV and major sports leagues are invalid for claiming only abstract ideas.

The Federal Circuit said in September that Affinity Labs' patents do not cover patent-eligible subject matter and are invalid under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice decision. (AP) Without explaining its reasoning, the high court said it would not take up the cases.
