Cox Struck With Antitrust Suit Over Cable Boxes

Law360 (March 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Cox Communications Inc. has become the latest cable TV provider to be hit with a proposed class action alleging the company illegally ties the purchase of its premium services to its cable boxes, in violation of federal antitrust laws.

Following on the heels of consumer actions against Time Warner Inc. and Comcast Corp., a New Orleans resident has accused the third-largest provider of cable TV services in the U.S. of an unlawful bundling agreement that forces its customers to pay two separate service fees every month....
