Qualcomm Evades Broadcom Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (March 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has tossed a lawsuit brought by Broadcom Corp. against rival Qualcomm Inc., dismissing claims that Qualcomm misused its patents rights and drove down competition in the wireless communications device industry.

Judge William Q. Hayes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California granted Qualcomm's motion to dismiss Thursday, ruling that Broadcom had failed to identify the exhausted patents that Qualcomm allegedly used to suppress competition.
