IP Suits Continue Downward Trend In 2008: Report

Law360, New York (March 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Marking a steady drop in cases over the years, filings of intellectual property lawsuits continued to decline in U.S. district courts in 2008, according to statistical data on U.S. district and appeals courts.

The Judicial Business of the U.S. Courts on Tuesday released its annual report reviewing court activity and found that 9,592 patent, copyright and trademark cases were filed in district courts between September 2007 and September 2008, about an 11 percent decrease from IP cases filed the previous fiscal year.
