Uber, Background Check Co. Settle Job Screening Suit

By Rachel Graf (May 30, 2017, 7:24 PM EDT) -- Uber Technologies Inc. and its background check provider Hirease LLC reached an agreement with Uber job applicants Tuesday in California federal court to dismiss allegations the companies violated federal and state background check laws when screening the applicants.

Last month, the parties sought approval of a settlement agreement concerning Uber's alleged failure to provide notice and obtain authorization before conducting background checks, and to warn employees before firing them as a result of the checks.
