Takata, Honda Get Claims Trimmed In Air Bag MDL

By Nathan Hale (June 1, 2017, 6:15 PM EDT) -- Takata and Honda can both trim some claims brought against them in the economic loss portion of multidistrict litigation against Takata and various automakers over potentially explosive air bags, a Florida federal judge ruled in two orders released Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno tossed fully or in part 11 claims against Takata Corp., including counts for negligence, negligent failure to recall and unjust enrichment. Judge Moreno granted American Honda Motor Co. Inc. full or partial dismissal of counts for unjust enrichment and negligent failure to recall, among others, but he declined to toss a count for fraudulent concealment....
