Digital Rights Co. Seeks New IP Trial Against Google

By Jimmy Hoover (June 8, 2017, 6:34 PM EDT) -- A digital rights management company owned by Time Warner and Pendrell Corp. on Thursday asked a Federal Circuit panel for a new patent infringement trial against Google Inc., arguing that the trial court allowed Google to mislead the jury with an improper infringement analysis.

ContentGuard Holdings Inc. is seeking another shot to prove that the digital rights management system used by the Google Play app infringes ContentGuard's various digital rights management patents. In a separate appeal argued on Thursday, ContentGuard sought the same relief against Apple Inc., which it has also accused of infringement.
