Activision's $1.5M Deal Settling Artists' OT Claims Gets OK

By Bonnie Eslinger (June 14, 2017, 3:53 PM EDT) -- A California judge Wednesday gave final approval to Activision Blizzard Inc.'s $1.5 million settlement to resolve class claims that senior artists for the video game giant were wrongly classified as exempt and thus shortchanged on overtime.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maren E. Nelson told the parties during Wednesday's hearing that "as a general matter, I'm satisfied with what happened" with the case. Approval of the settlement comes more than two years after lead plaintiff John Lee, a former Activision Blizzard employee, filed his lawsuit claiming that the company violated California labor laws by misclassifying senior artists as salaried employees...
