Ex-NFLer Loses ERISA Suit Over Disability Denial

Law360, New York (June 14, 2017, 7:13 PM EDT) -- A former NFL player lost his Employee Retirement Income Security Act suit Wednesday over denied disability benefits when a Texas federal judge granted judgment to the league's benefits plan and disability board and denied the ex-footballer’s bid to remand the fight to the board.

U. S. District Judge Gray H. Miller found that the disability board did not improperly deny former National Football League cornerback Brian Jackson’s claim for line-of-duty disability benefits, saying the board properly considered substantial evidence in making its determination.
