Deputy DOL Pick Avoids Fireworks At Confirmation Hearing

By Vin Gurrieri (July 13, 2017, 5:51 PM EDT) -- Deputy labor secretary nominee Patrick Pizzella defended his previous work under disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff at a confirmation hearing Thursday and pushed back against contentions that budget cuts proposed by the Trump administration will undermine the U.S. Department of Labor's enforcement ability or its workforce development programs.

Pizzella, who is currently the acting head of the Federal Labor Relations Authority, testified before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions during a confirmation hearing that also included National Labor Relations Board nominees William Emanuel and Marvin Kaplan.
