Class Cert. Denied For Cabbies Suing Cab Cos.

Law360 (April 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California state judge has denied a bid for class certification by a group of California taxi drivers, who allege they were improperly classified as independent contractors by a group of taxi companies in the state.

Judge Charles Hayes of the California Superior Court for the County of San Diego ruled on Wednesday that the cab drivers failed to show that they were a class, and that dozens of untranslated declarations they made were unreliable. The ruling finalizes a tentative order of March 5.
