Apple Says Qualcomm's Evasion Of Patent Exam 'Astounding'

Law360, Los Angeles (August 21, 2017, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. on Friday pushed back against Qualcomm’s bid to kill at least part of Apple’s suit accusing the chipmaker of demanding excessive royalties, saying that Qualcomm’s attempts to keep the court from taking a closer look at its patent portfolio are “astounding.”

Qualcomm in late July urged the court to dismiss Apple’s claims surrounding nine patents the Southern California chip company said aren’t in dispute in the litigation, arguing the court shouldn’t play along with the iPhone maker’s strategy of litigating until Qualcomm gives up, court records show.
