2nd Circ. Won't Give Litvak Interim Get-Out-Of-Jail Card

Law360, New York (August 22, 2017, 9:04 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit said Tuesday that former Jefferies Group trader Jesse Litvak can't delay the start of a two-year sentence while appealing his conviction on one out of 10 mortgage-backed securities fraud charges.

Litvak had argued that his appeal presented close enough questions to warrant putting his imprisonment on hold — an idea U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall had rejected and prosecutors with the Connecticut U.S. Attorney's Office disputed. The Second Circuit did not explain its denial in a brief order on Tuesday.
