EOIR Adds Another 7 Immigration Judges Amid Legal Battles

By Adam Rhodes (November 7, 2017, 6:36 PM EST) -- The Executive Office for Immigration Review on Monday said Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently appointed seven new immigration judges in Texas, California and Pennsylvania amid ongoing court battles over sanctuary cities and President Donald Trump's repeatedly revised travel ban.

The seven judges appointed were Marcos Gemoets in Houston, Bridget Virchis in Los Angeles, Jeremiah Johnson and Ilyce S. Shugall in San Francisco, Cynthia A. Lafuente-Gaona and Yvonne S. Gonzalez in San Antonio and Dinesh C. Verma in Philadelphia.

These latest appointments come after the office said in June that 11 other judges were sworn, followed by nine more in August.
