Deals Rumor Mill: Guggenheim, Facebook, GE

By Chelsea Naso (May 28, 2014, 3:45 PM EDT) -- Investment bank Guggenheim Partners LLC and a group led by billionaire David Geffen are expected to submit a joint bid for the Los Angeles Clippers by a Thursday deadline, sources told Reuters on Wednesday. Geffen's group includes Oprah Winfrey and Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison, the report said. This would not be Guggenhiem's first foray into professional sports. In 2012, the investment bank headed a group that included basketball icon Magic Johnson that bought the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team for $2.15 billion.
