Deals Rumor Mill: Alstom, Allergan, Bayer

By Chelsea Naso (April 29, 2014, 5:33 PM EDT) -- France's Alstom SA accepted an offer of more than $12 billion from General Electric Co. for its energy business, despite a politically charged battle with German-based rival Siemens AG for control of the unit, which makes power turbines and electricity transmissions systems, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The deal could be announced as soon as Wednesday, but requires approval from Alstom's union and others before it can be finalized, the report said. Siemens said Tuesday that it planned to make an offer for Alstom and requested a four-week due diligence period to review the company's books....
