A New York bankruptcy judge on Friday agreed to allow potential antitrust class actions against once-bankrupt automotive supplier Lear Corp. to proceed, but only allowed the plaintiffs to file claims based on alleged conduct that occurred after Lear exited bankruptcy.

Lear Corp. on Friday defended its move to escape potentially massive antitrust litigation, telling a New York bankruptcy judge that the reorganized company's brief stint in Chapter 11 protection should shield it from dozens of class actions.
