Parmalat Judge Chucks Counterclaim

Law360 (May 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed Grant Thornton’s spoliation counterclaim, handing Parmalat Chief Executive Officer Enrico Bondi a victory in his long-standing campaign to hold the underwriters of the Italian dairy giant accountable for its collapse.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan granted Bondi’s motion to toss the accounting firm’s allegation that Parmalat executives destroyed evidence in connection with the massive accounting fraud scandal that brought the company to its knees.
