BMW Sued Over Mini Cooper Engine Defect

Law360, New York (April 22, 2014, 4:45 PM EDT) -- BMW of North America LLC was hit with a proposed class action in New York federal court Thursday alleging a timing chain defect in its 2007-2010 Mini Cooper vehicles has cost owners thousands of dollars in engine repair and replacement costs.

Lead plaintiff Richard Kahn alleges BMW has known about the timing chain tensioner defect that can cause extensive engine damage and threaten drivers' safety, but has failed to notify potential customers about the defect or issue a recall, according to the complaint.
