Avis Budget Slapped With $5M Suit Claiming Racial Bias
By Kevin Penton (May 20, 2016, 2:32 PM EDT) -- An Avis Budget Car Rental LLC agent is seeking at least $5 million from the company in a putative class action that alleges it violated federal law by discriminating against her and other African-Americans working at Mississippi's Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport because of their race.
Whitney Richardson alleges that Avis Budget violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by harassing, intimidating and retaliating against African-American employees because of their race, according to her complaint.
