Local Carriers Say Verizon, Sprint Can't Duck Fees In MDL

Law360 (March 13, 2018, 3:38 PM EDT) -- Verizon and Sprint cannot avoid paying local access charges, even for wireless callers making local calls, local exchange carriers told a Texas federal judge Monday, pursuing a win on counterclaims they've sought against the multidistrict litigation the telecom giants launched with allegations of overbilling.

Known as LECs, the companies sought a quick win on their counterclaims for unpaid fees in one of the last outstanding factual issues in a case where the parties have otherwise agreed on most matters.
