FTC Slams Qualcomm's Bid For Stay Pending Antitrust Appeal

Law360 (June 11, 2019, 10:25 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday hit back against Qualcomm's bid for a California federal judge to stay her blockbuster antitrust decision against the company's high-tech chip licensing practices while it appeals the ruling to the Ninth Circuit.

The FTC said U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh should reject Qualcomm's request to pause the permanent injunction she handed down last month, which ordered the tech giant not to require customers to license its patents in order to buy its chips.

Qualcomm hadn't provided any solid legal basis for its bid for a stay, which "would allow it to maintain its longstanding anticompetitive practices...
