Bilfinger Unit Gets $28.6M In Dispute Over Texas Ironworks

Law360 (July 19, 2018, 6:52 PM EDT) -- A Bilfinger SE unit was awarded $28.6 million after an International Court of Arbitration tribunal found the Texas branch of an Austrian steel company wrongly fired it off an iron processing facility construction project on the state's Gulf Coast, lawyers for the Bilfinger subsidiary said Thursday.

Voestalpine Texas LLC, which hired Bilfinger Westcon Inc. as one of several main contractors on the $750 million project, initially requested arbitration proceedings against Westcon, seeking about $47 million related to allegations that the contractor took too long to finish its work. But the tribunal ultimately sided with Westcon, which accused Voestalpine of wrongful termination....
