US Atty Criminal Division Chief Leaves For Civil Rights Firm

Law360, Chicago (September 9, 2016, 4:24 PM EDT) -- A prosecutor who oversaw several of Illinois’ most infamous cases left the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s office Wednesday to launch a new office for a small Michigan-based firm focusing on civil rights and employment issues.

Julie Porter, who oversaw criminal prosecutions in one of the busiest courts in the country as chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney of the Northern District of Illinois, joined Salvatore Prescott & Porter PLLC this week as a partner, telling Law360 that it was time to use the skills she accumulated as a federal prosecutor in a different way.
