By Catherine Robins (May 11, 2018, 3:05 PM EDT) -- The Irish government and Apple Inc. have signed a legal agreement that will enable Ireland to begin recovery of around €13 billion worth of "state aid" granted to Apple between 2003 and 2014. This is the latest twist in the saga of the European Commission's challenges to the very low levels of tax paid in the EU by — mainly U.S.-owned — multinationals. However, this is not the only move that puts the European Union on a collision course with the U.S. Proposals for a new way of taxing digital companies will also impact significantly on U.S.-owned multinationals....
