Apple To Close IPhone Backdoor Used By Law Enforcement

Law360 (June 13, 2018, 10:24 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. is disabling an iPhone feature which has been used by law enforcement officials in pursuit of evidence to circumvent a phone’s security settings, the tech giant told Law360 in an email Wednesday.

The feature allowed a third party that does not have permission to access an iPhone to use ports to gain access without entry passwords. Under the new system, the ports will allow only for charging — not accessing information — after the phone has been locked for an hour.
