McDonald's Franchisees Ordered To Fork Over Data To NLRB
Law360, New York (January 22, 2016, 7:37 PM EST) -- Nine McDonald’s Corp. franchisees in Illinois must hand over a variety of employment-related documents to the National Labor Relations Board as part of the agency’s supersize, nationwide investigation into whether the fast food chain is a “joint employer” of franchise workers, an Illinois federal judge has ruled.
U.S. District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan on Tuesday issued the ruling in 13 cases involving franchisees centered on the Chicago area, part of the NLRB General Counsel office’s national probe of dozens of unfair labor practices charges against McDonald’s and dozens of its franchisees across the U.S.
