PE Firm's $13M Deal In Chemical Price-Fix Suit Gets Initial OK

Law360 (May 14, 2019, 9:12 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge gave the initial go-ahead Tuesday to a $13 million deal between a chemical supplier’s parent company and public utilities suing it and dozens of others in multidistrict litigation for scheming to rig the price of a water treatment chemical.

With the order, American Securities LLC got one step closer to ending its three-year fight with the public utilities bringing the suit, but U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares said he’ll be withholding final approval until a fairness hearing can be held.
