Pa. High Court Denies 2 Sunoco Pipeline Zoning Appeals

Law360 (August 29, 2018, 7:31 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Tuesday denied two appeals challenging a lower court’s ruling that local zoning ordinances do not stand in the way of Sunoco Pipeline LP’s controversial Mariner East 2 natural gas pipeline without providing additional reasoning.

The high court issued the decision denying the appeal of two separate Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court rulings, which found that the state Public Utility Commission’s regulatory authority superseded zoning rules that residents of a suburban Philadelphia municipality had hoped to apply to Sunoco Pipeline LP’s Mariner East 2 project.
