Calif. Real Estate Legislation To Watch In 2021's 2nd Half

By Andrew McIntyre (June 30, 2021, 3:07 PM EDT) -- California lawmakers are trying to solve the state's housing affordability crisis, and real estate lawyers in the second half of the year will be closely watching several pieces of legislation that aim to create more housing.

Attorneys have their eyes on a bill that could fast-track the development of some affordable projects, and lawyers are also watching a separate piece of legislation that paves the way for splitting single-family parcels into multiple units.

Lawyers are also keen to see how another bill — which would allow for certain retail and office properties to be converted to residential use — plays out.
