Pa. House Passes Bill Promoting Greener State Buildings

Law360, Philadelphia (February 12, 2013, 6:34 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania House on Monday passed legislation that would impose environmentally friendly requirements for all construction projects on buildings owned or substantially leased by the state.

House Bill 34, introduced by Rep. Kate Harper, R-Montgomery, passed in a 163-32 vote. This is the second consecutive legislative session the bill has made it out of the house, and Harper is optimistic it will make it into law this year.

The bill would obligate the state to take energy consumption into account when initiating all major construction projects....
