Law360, San Francisco (October 4, 2013, 4:28 PM EDT) -- The city of Fresno, Calif., agreed to dismiss claims against ARCO Chemical Co. and Lyondell Chemical Co. over groundwater contamination from the additive methyl tertiary butyl ether in New York federal court Wednesday, following a settlement between the parties.
U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin greenlighted the pact Wednesday, in which the chemical companies and the southern California city agreed to quit the case without the opportunity to revive claims. Each side also agreed to bear its own expenses.
