The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor has proposed new regulations governing tip sharing. These regulations are, in part, a response to regulations the DOL promulgated in 2011, which have resulted in a split between the federal circuits and a petition for certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court. If adopted, the proposed regulations would allow tips to be shared with workers who do not usually receive gratuities, but only in specified circumstances....
